2020 Convention Weekend

Message to all CKKA Members, Clubs, & Instructors:

Hello all,

These are extraordinary times we are going through and some tough decisions have had to be made across the country.

Your CKKA board met on Thursday, April 16th with the focus of our meeting being the 2020 Convention. The big question ‘do we cancel’? After a long discussion, with these uncertain times of not knowing what will happen down the road, what restrictions will be lifted and what won’t, it is your board’s decision to cancel the 2020 convention.

Now what happens? We advised the Holiday Inn International Toronto and informed them of our decision. We were waiting to announce this formally to our members once we received a reply from the hotel. We received an email this week:

“I will check to see if the paperwork was started to refund your deposit.  Please be mindful this will take some time due to very limited staff here and at Head Office.”

What about your registration? Here you have a couple of options. For either of these options please let us know by email at canadiankka@gmail.com before May 31s.

  1. With your permission we will keep your registration for next year’s event, this could be a big saving for you and eliminate having to register all over again for 2021. 2021 will be the 60th Anniversary of the CKKA, this is something to celebrate! Your board is already starting to plan for this exciting event, you won’t want to miss it.
  2. If you would like a refund, please email us requesting to cancel the registration and issue a refund. Please note there will be a $10 administration fee deducted from your refund to cover Paypal and banking costs.

For those willing to let their registration stand until next year’s event, we are working on a series of on-line pods as a thank you EXCLUSIVE to those that stay registered. These pods will be taught by our senior instructors and a special email invitation will be sent with dates and time once details are worked out. Again, please advise on your choice of options before May 31 at canadiankka@gmail.com

From your board, we thank you for your patience and understanding as we worked this out.  It is our hope that you and your families stay healthy and safe, and this crisis is over soon.

  1. My son Justin Dakin is signed up for the CKKA tournament for weapons, forms and sparring. He is also looking to do creative forms but I don’t see how to register for them.
